As one of the leading globally-operating logistics service providers, Rhenus has closed the acquisition of Aduanas Alie, a Spanish company with more than 100 years of experience in providing logistics services for international trade.

Aduanas Alie has a strong presence in Morocco and the Maghreb, where it has consolidated its position as a key logistics provider in traffic flows between Spain and Northern Africa. The company offers bespoke solutions and customs processing by a highly specialised team to its customers.

This acquisition represents another step in the expansion strategy of the Rhenus Group’s subsidiary in Spain, Rhenus Logistics Spain, reinforcing its operations involving traffic flows with Morocco – a market considered as strategic for the group. This commitment has been in place since 2008, through the logistics services provided by Rhenus and, particularly, after the inauguration of the office in Tangier – the first on the African continent – in 2015. The main aim of this operation is to boost the development and consolidation of domestic and international ground services.

The country’s strategic location makes it an important gateway to Africa. In addition, this market offers great opportunities for growth due to the sustained rise in trade, enabling the Rhenus Group to serve as a logistics partner to key sectors such as manufacturing, automotive, technology, textile or pharmaceuticals.

For Andreu Gutiérrez, Country Sales Director Road of Rhenus Logistics in Spain, “Morocco has become a regional leader and more and more companies are positioning themselves in this market, particularly in Tangier – a business and logistics hub of international relevance”. In this sense, Andreu Gutiérrez considers that with the acquisition of Aduanas Alie, “we are not only able to increase our reach and strengthen our presence in Africa, but we also do so while offering the best service and expanding the coverage of our logistics network in a fast-growing region.”

Furthermore, Jordi Alie, the Managing Director of Aduanas Alie, highlights the enormous possibilities offered by the synergies between two century-old companies. “We’re very happy to join Rhenus, a company with which we share values and a commitment to quality. There’s so much more we can do together.”
