Rhenus High Tech, which is part of the Rhenus Group, took over 100 percent of the shares in Simon Hegele Hightech Transport & Service GmbH, which is a subsidiary of the Simon Hegele Group, on 20 February.

Rhenus High Tech is using this development to strengthen its market position and, as it were, create the conditions for continuing to develop its business activities. The takeover still has to be approved by the competition authorities.

Rhenus High Tech and Simon Hegele have been cooperating in the field of their distribution networks for more than five years with the aim of providing technical value-added logistics solutions for the customers of both companies.

“In a dynamic market environment like high-tech logistics, it’s essential to focus on quality and continuing to develop the business strategy as well as implementing the plans quickly, consistently and cost-effectively. We’re creating the conditions for expanding the range of services provided by Rhenus High Tech through this takeover,” says Ronny Sassen, Managing Director of Rhenus High Tech.

Rhenus High Tech has been operating as a technical value-added logistics specialist for more than 50 years and is one of the leading service providers in this specialist market segment. The company provides technical and logistics solutions, including installation work, replacing machines, updates, cleaning and repair operations, data management, uninstallation and the disposal of technical equipment using its own network structures.

“We’ll focus all our attention on expanding our business in the industry & commerce sectors as well as health care solutions in the field of third-party logistics, direct transport operations, assembly work and value-added services,” says Stefan Ulrich, CEO of the Simon Hegele Group. “We’re delighted to have found an owner in the Rhenus Group, which has the experience, expertise and a readiness to invest so that we can purposefully develop our high-tech transport operations department within the company.”

Rhenus and Simon Hegele are planning to work together on network-relevant customer projects in future too. Both sides have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
